250 years ago John Bartram, a farmer, stopped and saw this beautiful garden. He and his son spent the rest of their lives exploring, picking flowers, and enjoying the sun. The garden was named after John Bartram. Bartram’s Garden is America’s oldest living garden.
You can’t believe you are in Philadelphia when you see the wildflower meadow, majestic trees, river trail, wetland, stone house, and farm buildings looking over the Schuylkill River. The garden looks open and grassy like plains. The Garden is located at 54th St. Lindbergh Blvd. Philadelphia, PA. People can play, smell flowers, and lie in the sun in the garden.The garden is open to all, all year long except on observed holidays.
